COTE:
meeting the 4th Wednesday of each month, 6:30pm
Holmes & Watson's - Broadway, Troy, NY
The Local AIAENY COTE is not limited to AIA members or even to building
professionals. We intend to create greener opportunities for ourselves, our
professions, our neighborhoods, and our environment.
If you have an interest in sustainable practices, a COTE meeting is the
place to talk about and plan for the challenges that we can undertake. We
have many goals, from the lofty to the immediately achievable:
- Create a knowledge base for
local green materials for architects, contractors, engineers.
- Address waste in K-12
schools. Teach a school how to improve its daily practices for the
well-being of the earth and the bottom line.
- Work with grassroots
education - stick with the people who have their hands on this stuff.
Bottom up education.
- Create a measurement index
for ourselves - we need to see our efforts are causing improvement and
growth.
- Keep each other's energy
up.
- Educate the world.
- Be an information source
for ourselves.
- Provide support for
presentations and speeches.
- Become an experienced
resource for others re: LEED process.
- Find media to use to feed
this stuff out - alumni magazines, local papers, library speeches, TV
covered events.
"Our
intent is to get more people of the community involved in the practice of
long term sustainability by giving them access to resources and to
inspiration."
