AIA Education Requirements
The annual AIA continuing education requirement for architect members is 18.00 Learning Units per calendar year, of which at least 12.00 must be in the area of Health Safety and Welfare (HSW) and 4.00 of the HSW Credits must be Sustainable Design (SD). Please note that this is a recent change to go into effect January 2012. Also, effective January 2012, HSW and SD credits may not be self-reported.
**As a member benefit, please be aware that in the case your continuing education credit has not been recording in a timely fashion (required 10 days after the program date), AIA ENY will contact the provider for you!
AIA CES Discovery
AIA CES Discovery is a Web-based, automated system for managing AIA members' continuing education credits and transcripts. The AIA CES records management system is a single, Web-based point of contact for all CES needs, including the following: * On-demand access to transcripts and course offerings * More customized course- and provider-search functions * Ability to submit online course ratings

New York State Continuting Education Requirements
To practice the profession of architecture in New York, a licensee must be currently "registered". Registration is for a 3-year period. Every licensed and registerd architect must take continuing education in appropriate subject areas offered by approved sponsors. No one is exempt. You are required to complete 36 hours of continuing education during each three-year registration period.
